'Eight for 08' Superlambananas (2010)
As part of the legacy of Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture in 2008, Liverpool City Council commissioned eight Superlambananas for permanent display in the City.
Claire was commissioned to paint 'Year of 08', inspired by 'Ewes for Klimt', the winning design of Kath Jackson in the Liverpool Echo's 'Design a Superlambanana' competition. The Gustav Klimt Exhibition at Tate Liverpool was a major event of '08.
Claire has emulated Klimt's style to display a highly rich and decorative reminder of some of the other major events of a remarkable year. These include the unforgettable visit of La Machine's famous 'Spider', the Tall Ships race and the Howling Wolf of The Lantern Company's Haloween Parade.

Go Superlambananas was a major happening in Liverpool in 2008. It showcased the creativity of the city in its year as European Capital of Culture; a large scale Public Art project involving the local community and selected Artists. Claire worked on two 'Superlambananas'.
The first Superlambanana was her own design, portraying the South Liverpool district of Allerton and the surrounding area, illustrating some of the local landmarks. The second was developed working with 200 children at a primary school in North Liverpool. The children all drew designs, some of which were incorporated into the final design which they then painted.

SuperMapLambanana
The Map amalgamates the physical and geographical characteristics with the historical and cultural. It celebrates Allerton's contribution to Liverpool's achievements and heritage.
The vast amount of green areas clearly visible on the map is a testament to the imagination and foresight of the people of Liverpool in recognising the importance of recreational space and nature within the city environment.
The Map reveals how much Allerton has to offer, including Neolithic Stones (Calderstones), a thousand year old oak tree (The Allerton Oak) and the vast Beatles legacy.

The North End
The Vauxhall Neighbourhood Council, a community organisation, is working, through the Liverpool Revisited project, to develop tourism in the north Liverpool area. This area has a rich maritime heritage, fine examples of architecture, a diverse history and outstanding sport prowess.
The GoSuperlambanana project allowed the Liverpool Revisited project to involve the local community in designing the North End Superlambanana to not only provide an attraction for the area which reflects on its heritage but also to create a sense of ownership and pride.
The design and painting of the Superlambanana was carried out, under Claire's guidance, by the pupils of Trinity Catholic Primary School in Vauxhall,
